A Case for the Existence of God

Inside a cubicle in a small office in southern Idaho, two men struggle to balance the confounding terms on a loan.

Outdoor live theater returns in a big way this summer when Sawtooth Productions and Laughing Stock Theater, Field Daze Summer Events and The Argyros present a workshop production of the new play from Idaho playwright and MacArthur genius award winner Samuel D. Hunter – A Case For the Existence of God.

As with all of Hunter’s plays, this one is set in Idaho – in this case Twin Falls.

The play will be presented under the stars at the iconic Reinheimer Ranch as part of Field Daze Summer Events. The ranch is located a half mile south of Ketchum on the east side of Highway 75.

The production will be directed by New York actor/director Paul Lazar (Outside Mullingar) and features Pete Simpson (2017 Obie Award for Sustained Excellence) and Aaron Shipp.

The play was commissioned by Signature Theatre in NYC and will have its world premiere there in the winter of 2022. This show, a workshop production, will give Sun Valley audiences a sneak peak at the play as Hunter will be present for rehearsals and also will be refining the text.
